Miguna Miguna has finally responded to Governor Mike Sonko’s nomination for deputy governor. He termed it as ‘malicious distraction’. “Mr. Mike Sonko and I have not spoken, met or communicated since our gubernatorial debate in July 2017. I will not comment on malicious information, material or cheap propaganda circulating in the social media. Thank you,” Miguna tweeted.
Hon. Mike Mbuvi Sonko had written a letter to Hon. Beatrice Elachi (speaker of Nairobi county assembly) on May 16th 2018 requesting for Miguna Miguna to undergo vetting. “In regard to supreme court advisory in regard to the appointment of Deputy Governor, upon the seat falling vacant. I hereby forward my nominee, Lawyer Miguna Miguna to undergo full vetting process and approval by the County Assembly for the position of Deputy Governor. The nominee meets all the requirements provided for in the constitution, the leadership and integrity act, the elections act and the county government act. I look forward to your rapid consideration and conclusion of the matter,” he said.
The county’s deputy director of Communication Elkana Jacob and Miguna’s lawyer Cliff Ombetta confirmed the appointment. Nelson Havi, Miguna’s lawyer said he hoped that his client would gladly accept the offer and should come home fast since Miguna would be given a diplomatic passport to travel.
